I'm a bad blogger.
Living through a renovation is not as glamourous as HGTV makes it look.
I have to search through 4 separate boxes to find something to clothe myself with each morning.
My deodorant has yet to be seen. And my laptop has been hiding in one of the many unpacked boxes.
If thats not a good excuse, I don't know what is.
Well I've uncovered my little comp, and only have a few thoughts,
Mitt Romney's constant condescending smirk is annoying.
Saying this could be considered treason here in Utah County, but it's simply undeniable.
I do like his salt and pepper hair though, very presidential McDreamy hair.
Now that I mention it, Both candidates are rather handsome.
And we all know Romney's final speech, and stylish tie, kicked Obama's ass.
Is this not what Im supposed to be getting from this debate?
Okay. I'm only half kidding.
On an uncharacteristically political note, I look forward to voting, and hope that all of you that are able will too. Whatever that vote may be (I am not publicly endorsing either candidate) just make it an educated one.
I'm not kidding about Mitt's smile though. seriously.

it doesn't get deeper than this
What is it about clothes that completely consumes me?
Okay, not completely, but it's an intense love.
Even when I'm at the point I'm stealing Zane's hangers, or I'm struggling to squeeze another shirt in my closet, or how my closet somehow still looks full when half my clothes are laying on the floor, why do I feel like I need more?
I guess a better word choice would be REALLY want more.
Zane thinks it's hilarious.
Especially when we just finished having a nice, tender talk about our relationship, and we fall silent, and then he turns to me and asks, "What are you thinking about?"
And I reply, "What I'm going to wear tomorrow."
I recently accepted it might be an addiction when I was laying on my bed, writhing in pain from a migraine that was quickly turning into nausea, and realize the only thing that makes the pain bearable is if I imagine putting together different outfits, using some articles of clothing I don't even own (yet).
You'd think I'd manage to look a bit more stylish with all the thought I put into clothes, but it's really only the shopping I've mastered. Getting creative with what I've got is a work in progress.
I realize after writing all this down, that I sound incredibly materialistic, and maybe a bit vapid. Judge if you must, but hey, I know I'm not the only girl out there with this problem.
So someone tell me why, and how in the world, some cuts of cloth can bring me so much pure joy?
Here's what's haunting my dreams, and filling up my Nordstrom bag, as of late.

summer
I have always been a summer girl.
It seems to suit me finer than the other seasons, though spring is a close second.
This is my first summer as a self proclaimed adult, and I've found myself wondering what does summer even mean to me now?
It's not playing till 4 in the morning.
It's no longer sleeping in till noon.
It's not endless hours at the pool.
It's not tan skin, shorts, and tank tops.
It's not vacation. It's not stress free.
It's June, and as childish as it seems, this realization has left me feeling a little sad. Something that has brought me naive happiness for 19 years, is loosing it's luster.
My days are not hard by any means. I will be the first to admit that I am a lucky girl, with a good life.
I guess I'm just having my first lick of a real life adjustment, as silly as it may seem.
I have 3 months to find the magic of summer.
I have a feeling there's more to it than the strict definition I've always limited it to.
I just haven't figured it out yet...

sunshiiiiine
Although the extra hour was lovely,
my favorite thing about the recent time change, is definitely waking up to light.
It is rather depressing, not to mention rather difficult, to wake up when it is pitch black outside.
It makes my heart feel pitch black.
Now when I wake up to skies like this...
It puts a little sunshine in my soul.
It also doesn't hurt that my sweet boy wakes up every morning at 6 to keep me company. Even though he doesn't have to wake up till 8. He always makes sure he's up to make getting work a little easier for me.
Blessed, is the word of the day.
or life.

selflessness
Since I got engaged, all of my money goes into the bank.
Straight into savings, or used for marriage related things.
Although, I do find marriage shopping fun, my inner Nordstrom online shopaholic has begun to slip out here and there.
The new twist on the addiction that makes it all okay is, now I'm addicted to picking out cute stuff for the future hublub.
Which is basically selfless.
And in all honesty, he needs some clothes.
He hasn't bought himself a winter coat since before his mission, and he is 25!
And I'm pretty sure I see every shirt cycle through within 2 weeks.
He is going to freeze his little buns off if I don't donate to the cause!
Plus, I ALWAYS make my selections from the sale department okay!?
So the census is, pure, selfless, necessary service.
Momentary guilt, gone.

the blog world!
I discovered a few new blogs to follow today and it just made me think,
I love the blog world!
Blog people are like Hikers.
When you are out on a hike, everyone is always smiling at you, and saying hi to everyone and their dogs. literally.
Or maybe we are more like motorcyclists.
Ya know, like when you're on a motorcycle, and you pass someone else on a motorcycle, and you get the head nod.
And we don't hand out those head nods freely, just to those people in the gang.
It's like some how we are specially connected.
We appreciate each other for taking the time to write about our lives, even if they aren't even remotely exciting.
And we accept the fact that stalking or "creepin" on each other is the biggest form of blog flattery.
And honestly, no one ever leaves mean comments or says rude things. We just read, and respect, and have this little instant internet friendship.
And I'm lovin it!
And since I have posted too many times without a picture, here is me, fresh out of a good nights sleep, given you two thumbs up! cause thats how much I love it!

Growing Up Sucks
Growing up and I have a love-hate relationship these days, and it's getting pretty frustrating.
Some parts of growing up are just not that much fun, and the child in me would like to just take the hard things, and hide them in a corner for my mom to find a couple weeks later.
Unfortunately, I am surrounded by grown ups, like my parents, and Zane.
And they make me deal with the tough stuff.
And you know what...
It sucks!
And I know what all the grown ups that are reading this blog are thinking...
"Welcome to the rest of your life Brooke, you have no idea... bless your heart you naive, spoiled, little girl."
But you don't have to say it, okay? cause I know it.
And I'm dealing with it.
At least I'm trying to...

okaaaay singles ward!
Singles wards are a little bit ridiculous.
At least mine is.
Or maybe just today was.
Chances are being in a singles ward isn't getting you any closer to marriage than being in your home ward, lets face it.
So let's stop teaching every lesson on how to get a date, and what to do once you're on a date, cause if any of that information is actually new to anyone, you are most likely hopeless.
It'll be by the grace of god that you find your eternal companion.
I mean that in the nicest way possible.
So let's teach lessons that actually draw us nearer to god, because it is through him that the hopeless will find their happiness.
Actually it's through him that even the relationship inclined find their happiness.
"When and how to decline a date" and "who should text who first" isn't going to get you anywhere.
Gems like Prayer, Faith, Repentance, Charity, now that's worth talking about for an hour and fifteen minutes.
Mastering those, among other things, will bring you closer to finding your eternal companion than learning advice from a slew of different women.
To be completely honest with you men, us women, we change our minds A LOT, not one of us is the same, meaning one girls trash is another's treasure, so really listening to our advice could get confusing and contradictory.
Most importantly we usually don't know what we want until a handsome, worthy priesthood holder is standing right in front of our faces showing us what we need.
so everyone, men and women, just work on yourself. Focus on becoming the person you want to be, and let a higher power worry about who you'll marry, and when it'll happen.
Any plan He has for you, is better than the one you're trying to figure out for yourself.
{This is not meant to offend anyone who has taught a lesson on this before, I was just feeling a little frustrated at church today}

Gone CRAZY.
I interrupt my 30 days to make an extremely important announcement.
I have gone CRAZY.
I can't really explain why it happened, or how.
But somewhere between yesterday morning and this afternoon, I went insane.
I have deleted my facebook.
I have had a tiny desire to do this for quite some time now. I am way to involved with that social networking site it's verging on disgusting.
And I suddenly hated the idea of people watching my life, and being able to twist and contort my reality into whatever they want.
And I realized I didn't want to be twisting other people's realities around, on accident or not, either.
I want to live my life without so many eyes on it.
Eye's I don't like, or don't know.
This I am sure, is a phase. I will back on FB eventually, hopefully with a healthier relationship, but as for now, I am crazy.
I also broke things off with my red head.
This one had a bigger thought process behind it, but it was still very sudden.
I didn't know that was what I needed until I woke up this morning.
I love the boy so much. He was my first friend at USU, and now he is one of my best friends.
He came into my life with such perfect timing, and brought everything I'd been needing with him.
In less than a year he has already begun to shape me into the adult I'll soon be.
The problem is, I don't know who that adult is going to be. Not yet.
And I can't let the boy shape me completely.
Some parts of me, have to be mine and mine alone.
So I woke up this morning and decided today is as good as any day to start taking a more active role is figuring out who I am, or more importantly, who I want to be.
So I very respectfully, closed the red door.
Leaving it on a question mark rather than a period though.
There is a certain someone who kind of inspired all this craziness.
Someone I hardly know at all, but I can tell already that one way or another, they are going to change me forever.
For the better.
Maybe I will introduce you one day.
Without FB, the blogosphere will be my life now.
Tune in for pictures, stories, and updates on my new crazy.

Bumpin with the Borups
So the truth is finally going to come out...
I am going to open up to all of you followers.
Im addicted to the Kardashians, it' a guilty pleasure.
Any form of the Kardshians. Khloe and Lamar, kourtney and Kim, just the whole K Klan in general.
This is a little embarrassing to admit. I am aware that they are not the ideal role models for anyone, but basically I want to be them.
More specifically, I want to be Kourtney. She is cracks me up.
I am afraid I am more like Kim though, not in "the hot sister" way but in the "not even half as entertaining as the other sisters" way. Im working on it.
"clench your teeth, clench em."
(newest episode reference)

My sister and I decided we are going to be like the kardashians.
The Borup sistas people, watch out! Soon you are going to hate how much you love us.
And when you are talking about us, we want you to somehow work in the phrase, "Bumpin' up with the Borups". Thank you!
(my sister just told me that was "REALLY stupid"... see what happens when I try to be funny?!? failure.)
(my sister just told me that was "REALLY stupid"... see what happens when I try to be funny?!? failure.)
We are just as pretty right?!
(Photo taken as we blog and watch the kardashians)
PS,
Potential guilty pleasure, Ice loves CoCo. Look into it, if you have a soft spot for all things E!.
So hey, now that I have shared a dirty secret with you, will you all just follow me already. publicly would be preferred. There is something about your blog being followed that just makes you feel good, so consider it charity.
Cause I KNOW you're reading this!!!

Home and Then What?
So we are home from St. George.. Now what?
I had been looking forward to that silly little weekend for so long, and now that is has come and gone I am left with nothing to look forward to for the next 3 months.
Too soon to plan another trip to southern Utah?
What are you guys doing with your summers?!?

Marriage??
Sometimes when it seems like everyone and their dog are engaged, or already married, I wish I was too. I start day dreaming about a big old diamond and a cute husband to take adorable engagement pictures with.
That's when I try on fake wedding rings at Target and make my sister watch me try on my mom's wedding dress and take ridiculous bridal shots in the living room...
Then I really think about it and... NAAAAAH!
Not for me, not right now.
I am too busy bein' young and silly.
{Note to all the married readers out there, Congrats! I am very happy for you, hopefully you'll pray that one day I reach the same maturity level as you. Cause let me tell ya, it's not lookin' good.}

I love leisurely literature.
I love home.
I love SUMMER.
And you will find me loving summer everyday for the next 3 months.

The Hearts Cure for the Perma-Grumpy
So I have been stuck in perma-grumpy mode since friday afternoon.
Then my friends really love me...
Then I went to lunch with the girls.
Don't ask my why, there is no reason someone as blessed as me should have any reason to wake up on the wrong side of the bed, yet sometimes I do.
And at the worst of times, I stay on the wrong side for days.
Then my friends really love me...
But I found the cure today.
The sun was shining, like 60 degrees out shining. I pretended I knew how to play volleyball and football with my best friends for hours.
Darren told me my football toss was the 2nd girliest he has ever seen, which I took as a compliment.
And after a couple of hours, Im pretty sure my toss was the 6th girliest.
Progress people.
Then I went to lunch with the girls.
Which was followed by watching Gilmore Girls, my go to quick fix.
And ended with me letting go. I just relaxed. Stoped worrying. And did whatever my heart told me it wanted.
She has a mind of her own sometimes. For those of you who know me, I am definitely ruled by the logic of my mind.
Well actually I've always been a heart on my sleeve kinda of girl. It runs in the family.
But you know those decisions where your heart screams to do one thing, yet your mind is telling you the exact opposite. And you KNOW your mind is right this time.
Somehow the heart's desire still wins, despite your best efforts.
That doesn't happen to me.
In that situation, my mind always wins. I've let the heart win one too many times in my younger years, and I learned my lesson the hard way. Lead with your head girls, not your heart.
But how unromantic, uninspiring, and opposite of spontaneous is that?!
So tonight, I didn't listen.
(lets hope that doesn't come back and bite me in the butt later)

Who knew finally letting my heart win would cheer me up?
I guess you can't always depend on the brain to come up with all the right answers.
The conclusion is, Perma-grumpy is gone.
Now I can focus on the much needed SUMMER that starts in a week!
Now I can focus on the much needed SUMMER that starts in a week!
A summer with these head-bunned, and make-up-less beauties
Can't Wait.

Boring but It's Looking Up
I have 25 followers now.
which is nothing compared to the hundreds other blogs have, but to little me, that number is pretty flattering.
So I have been feeling the need to blog to my 25 followers.. as a thank you for following?
The problem is, there is nothing to blog about.
Im trying to think of any kind of story to tell about my life the past couple days, and I've got nothin.
The boy dropped off of the face of the earth for a few days, he does that sometimes.
School. blah blah blah.
Group meetings. Everyday.
I registered for next fall, which is a very boring story.
They are all relatively boring stories really.
But stay tuned for the weekend. It is bound to be more exciting.
and if somehow I had 26 or 27 followers by saturday, I'd promise to make it even more exciting.
Pillow-fight dances, true aggie night, and a wedding. (unfortunately not mine)
just to wet your appetite.
[Dad it's been awhile since you offered some great blog ideas. just saying]

Rain Rain, Go Away.
The cure for rainy day blues?
Listening to my roommate Missy sing her heart out to Adele in the shower.
It literally puts a smile on my face.
I think I will have to go sing in my own shower now.
I dare you to go do the same :)

Waiting For The Fairytale
So I found a picture that sums up my saturday and my sunday...
Ken and me ogling Mr. Ryan Gosling.
The only bad thing about dedicating 1 1/2 days to watching movies, is now Im completely unsatisfied with my life being anything but exactly like The Notebook.
Not to mention, my husband has to look as fabulous in a trench coat at dusk as Mr. Darcy does.
Is that too much to ask for?
Till then you can find me waiting here for my fairytale to fall into place;
at my kitchen counter, in my PJ's at 12:30, wishing we had some milk.

Recovered and Leaving
Well I am fully recovered and completely happy.
Unfortunately, I am so happy I've forgotten some things that normally I revolve around, like my camera.
To be honest, I am not even sure when I last set that pretty thing.
Thats how much I forget to use it these days.
I am going to Idaho tomorrow with a group of friends for general conference weekend, so here's hoping I pick up my old picture taking ways.
or more importantly that I actually find my camera.. Otherwise this blog is about to get even more boring than it already is.

Sickly Sick
Lets talk about what I've been up to the last 5 days.
Absolutely nothing.
As it turns out, being sick is pretty uneventful.
Spent 2 1/2 days throwing up and crying in my logan dorm, until my parentals decided that it was time that I brought the sickness home.
5 pounds, 3 doctor visits, 2 missed days of school, and 1 blessing later, I am feeling better.
Mostly.
Next time I am fantasizing about getting a little sickness, thinking it'll be a nice few days of relaxation, set me straight people!!!
Being sick is the worst.

Next time I am fantasizing about getting a little sickness, thinking it'll be a nice few days of relaxation, set me straight people!!!
Being sick is the worst.
So here is a lovely picture of me and my new best friend, the heating pad.

Math Equals Misery
Math is pure misery.
There is a plethora of terrible things I would rather do than even think about math.
They include...
-Clean toilets.
-Run a marathon. (if you know me, you know this is big.)
-Eat beans and vegetables.
-Watch golf on TV.
-Wake up at 6 in the morning
-Have my fingernails ripped off.
Unfortunately I'm doing none of these things.
I am sitting in a classroom listening to math lingo that is so painful I am considering changing my major; Mastering the custodial field sounds like heaven right now.
