my mysterious and super fascinating life
Why am I watching this show?
Plot synopsis goes a little like this; beautiful, but vapid model dies and then presses a button in heaven and ends up in a beautiful, brilliant lawyers body, who happens to be a bigger body type than the model prefers. It's like legally blonde, but completely different and full of cheese.
I'll say it again, why am I watching this show?
And while I'm at it, why am I picking off my eye lashes one by one? That's probably the weirder of the two.
Unsolvable predicaments.
In the mean time, I will be watching and picking.

I blog multiple times a day, deal with it
Updating my room is coming along nicely, especially now that I decided I am staying home for fall semester.
It's going to be a perfect grown-up, girly feel when I'm finished with it.
or maybe just an almost grown-up, girly feel...

Home and Then What?
So we are home from St. George.. Now what?
I had been looking forward to that silly little weekend for so long, and now that is has come and gone I am left with nothing to look forward to for the next 3 months.
Too soon to plan another trip to southern Utah?
What are you guys doing with your summers?!?

And Then There's Saturday
Saturday =
one good nap.
5 great movies with the roommates.
Epic deleted scenes.
One tender roommate bonding discussion.
3 rounds of karaoke. (which we caught on film, but I will not be sharing)
And 0 pictures.
Somehow all that nothingness took us till 4 in the morning to finish.
and I enjoyed every second of it.
404 you complete me.

The Weekend!
This weekend will be the first all semester that all of my friends will be here!
We haven't made it one weekend where at least two of my roommates were gone, so needless to say, I am very excited to spend one of my last weekends in Logan with everyone here.
We started it off right tonight by going to see a hypnotist show and tomorrow we will go to the Logan temple for the first time to do some baptisms.
I'm not sure what else the weekend has in store but I am so excited to find out!
Stay posted people, there will be pictures.

Up-Coming Bridal Party!
Have I mentioned my BESTIE is getting married?
Well she is, March 19th.
I am pretty sure most of the people who read my blog already know this.
It is big news. very exciting.
So of course, I am throwing her a bridal shower/bachelorette party!
It will be the celebration of the season.
The party, I mean, but probably the wedding too.
I have been so excited about this for a little over a month now. I finally got all of the party supplies together these past two days, and it has made me a bit of an eager beaver.
My friends have had to talk me out of putting up decorations, and putting together party bags weeks in advance.
But FINALLY the party is tomorrow!!!
I hope it lives up to all of the expectations I have built in my head.
More importantly, I hope it stops snowing, so those coming up from Orem will make it safely. The guest of honor is pretty imperative for the party.
So keep my little party in your prayers :)
And stay posted for what I'm SURE will be some quality pictures.
{Tis' the season to get married everyone}

Oh Facebook.
I am debating deleting my Facebook.
I think my relationship with FB is unhealthy 87% of the time.
I stalk pictures of people I don't really know, for no apparent reason.
And posting my own pictures sometimes feels like a contest (Im not really sure who I am competing against) of who has the best life.
Who has the cuter boyfriend, the crazy fun experiences, the cutest clothes, the most friends, the most extravagant vacations.
Pictures become less about the moment, and the people and more about proving to someone, or maybe even proving to yourself, that you are happy.
A family friend once told my mom, from my pictures it looked like I have the most happy and fun life he's ever seen.
No doubt I am blessed. But is the reality of FB really reality?
Most days I feel like Facebook is just a way to either cut others down, or cut our selves down because we don't measure up to others.
A way to exercise pride and vanity.
I feel like I would feel a little less worldy the day I deleted my profile.
BUT, sometimes Facebook is healthy.
It is fun to look at pictures of my best friends, and family that I don't get to see as often.
It is nice to have another way to communicate with people I am away from.
It is sometimes nice to be able to share parts of my life with friends and family who are curious to know what I am up to.
So, what to do, what to do?!?!

Better
School is only getting better.
(minus that dumb research methods class)
I HONESTLY love my roommates.
My dad called me the other day and said that he saw that I wrote I loved them on a previous post but was wondering if I was just being polite.
So let me clarify.
I love them. From the bottom of my heart.
We are kindred spirits. They complete me.
When I get some good pictures of them, and some spare time, I will formally introduce you. Fake names and all.
(Don't be creeped out Court :)...)
My classes are more interesting.
But I can tell you now that I'm definitely going to finish this semester as a feminist, and probably a liberal. It's really not debatable anymore.
But my mom says I was never really a conservative to begin with anyway... oops.
I hope you all still love me.
I got myself some cute hats, and some ear warmers. So even my walks around campus are looking up.
But as GREAT as school is, home is pretty darn great too.
And I am home this weekend with all of my best girl friends!
SURPRISE!
But even Barbie came down to visit good old Orem City this time.
So basically it's my life in Logan, temporarily relocated to the O.C.
Completely different and worth the gas money, I swear.
:)
And here is a picture of Big Red's legs to keep you all aesthetically pleased.
Happy Weekend

The classes
Let's talk about my classes shall we?
1: Marriage and Family Relationships.
I walked around for a good 10 min trying to find my classroom before I realized I was in the wrong building...
So I was 20 min late to the actual class, but by the portion that I was there for I think I am going to like it. Yes, it probably isn't the most challenging class I have ever taken, but I can tell I will find it interesting. I hear is the best way to earn a good grade. (which I need)
2: Jcom [media smarts]
Well I am pretty sure my teacher is a NUT.
She is liberal, eco-friendly, full blown feminist and gay activist.
She hates conservative radio and Fox news.
She married the head of the Jcom department, but refused to take his last name because "She wanted to keep her own identity".
Although none of these things makes an individual a nut, screaming, blasting the song "we didn't start the fire" and asking us to all dance definitely does.
she is definitely going to force me to have an open mind.
The class sounds challenging, she will be challenging, but also a lot of fun, and interesting.
3. Women and Gender Studies
Undecided about this one. The teacher rambled on and on about the syllabus today it was hard to be interested... But I have it with my roommate, Barbie, so that will be nice.
I am pretty sure this class, along with the class above, is going to have a little bit of a liberal agenda. Gay rights, transvestite rights were both topics that she mentioned we would be studying. Think I can maintain my conservative beliefs and get an A in my classes?
Heaven forbid I graduate as a DEMOCRAT right?!
jokes.
But seriously, this isn't BYU folks.
4. Jcom [communications research methods]
Hate.
This is going to be Statistics all over again... meh.
But because it is too early in the semester to have such a bad attitude, I will just say some positive things.
It's a really small class, I like my professor, and it will probably be at least a little easier than Stats.
Thats all. Sounds easy enough right?? I can totally do this...
Zero pictures today.
This post was mostly for Mom and Dad anyway. If more of you found it even slightly entertaining that is just a bonus.
P.S.
It is FREEZING. like -5 degrees outside today. I was pretty sure my ears were going to fall off.

Negative Blog
These days I feel like the only way to have a blog worth reading is to be, in some form or another, negative.
A long while ago I was talking to a friend of mind, who happens to write/perform VERY good music, and I said to him, "You are one angry kid." Cause he was/is.
and he said "Being angry is the only way to write music."
It sounds less profound now that I wrote it out like that... But I think it is relatively true.
Except I don't know anything about music...
so I am applying it to blogs.
The blogs I most enjoy reading involve either making fun of others, making fun of oneself, being extremely sarcastic, or just being plain mean.
(Never towards me the reader of course.)
This might say a lot, and nothing good, about my character...
but I think it applies to more than just me out there, don't be ashamed to admit it people!
In the real world, I am almost embarrassed to say, that I fit most of these requirements quite a bit of the time.
(I tell myself people find it endearing.)
But the point is,
In the blog world, I continue to fail at succeeding.
Probably because I am happy, and I try to be a nice person.
And my desire for comments and followers isn't going to drag down my integrity!
So whatever. Don't comment on my not funny or interesting blog.
It's FINE.

Summary of Two Lives.
Disneyland was a success! After my night of rest, I woke up ready for the best day of disney yet. I had such a good time with my family. I am thankful for my dad for taking me and my sister for all the sweeeeet hookups :)
Braden was sweet enough to drive me up to Logan, since I had to wake up at 5 and endure a 10 hour car ride moments before I faced what I thought would be another 2 hours in the car, in the dark, in the snow, all alone, back to USU. Instead, Braden saved me and the drive was fast and safe.
I had so much fun having him up here for a little while. I was excited to have him see a little of my life here in Logan and have my friends in Logan see a bit of my Orem life. I introduced him to my roommates and friends, and showed him around a little bit. Everyone loved him, DUH! :)
Now that he is gone I am just having fun with my roommates and friends all week. Nikki is subbing as my roommate for a few days since Lysha checked out on Wednesday. We have had a good time getting into the christmas spirit around here and decorated our little dorm to the nines. It is practically oozing christmas spirit. We have hours of girl talk and watch ABC Family or the CW endlessly.
I also got to meet two of my new roommates that will be moving-in in January. They were so sweet and cute, it made me excited for the next semester.
The friends and I are planning on another fun night tonight, maybe sledding down old main hill, or dinner at Angies!
Weeks like this one remind me how much I love my life here at USU.
I am also excited for this weekend home. And more than this weekend, I am excited for my Christmas break! I still love being in Orem too.
You know what they say, two is always better than one...
Two homes.
Two families.
Two little lives :)
I'm Lucky to live two perfect lives, my Orem life and my Logan life.
I wish there was an easy way to combine the two into one, but I can't really complain.
I have it good.

Communication and Sheep
Today in my Journalism and Communications class we had a guest speaker.
Her name is Julie Hollist, and she was brilliant.
She works for the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau.
Basically she told us about what she does, and her advice on how to be successful in life, specifically in a communications major;
Which, for those of you who don't know, is my major.
She was hilarious, clever, and smart. It was the best class I've been to since college started.
More importantly, it was the first day I really felt like I belonged in the major I've chosen.
I took two pages of notes simply on this lady's thoughts, none of which most people would consider profound, but I loved it. Everything she said was thought provoking, and inspiring, at least for me. I turned around at one point and saw a girl pretending to shoot herself in the head implying her extreme boredom, which is when I think I realized obviously not everyone in the class was feeling the same as I was, because this is MY major.
Which is why I won't bore you with all the things she taught me, some of which I'm pretty sure my mom has been telling me my whole life, because this isn't your major. its MINE.
But I will say she said to learn how to write intelligently, and that ANY practice you can get involved in you should take advantage of; like blogging! eh eh?
The point is, the class was amazing.
(I will feel slightly embarrassed if one day I change my major to something so different than what I am raving about right now)
In other news, only at USU would you find students practicing for their RODEO club on the quad; with actual sheep, and bails of hay.

Maybe I should join the Rodeo Club?

Buses and Cheese
I once read on Bri's blog about her experience of getting on the bus at the end of the day in Disneyworld.
It was hilarious, and almost unbelievable.
Today I discovered that the shuttle system at USU, when it's pouring rain, looks very similar.
Yesterday was sunny and beautiful, today it is freezing and wet. No one seems to be prepared for the weather change, so when I reach the bus stop at 8:30, there is already quite a crowd waiting in line. By the time the bus gets to the stop it is about 8:40. The wet students load up into the bus, and there are already no seats available; I am standing, and snow hall is the first stop on the bus route. Although the bus is what you and I would call full, the bus driver makes 3 more stops, thinking that there is still room for the crowd of 20 at each stop. This is a process, and by the time we reach our 4th stop, it is now 9 o'clock. The time that every student in that bus's classes start.
Awesome.
I'm pressed up against strangers, rain is coming through the opened emergency escape hatch on the ceiling of the bus, and I'm 10 minuets late to class.
At 3 o'clock when I am done with classes for the day. I am sopping wet from walking around campus, and the bus ride home is exactly the same.
And the only thing I can think about is how much worse it's going to be in the winter...
I unfortunately do not have any pictures that I can get onto my computer to show you. I will one day.
I still love it here. Don't worry, sitting in my dorm in an oversized sweatshirt with 3 too many servings of mac and cheese makes everything better :)

so this is a blog..
So this is what all the fuss is about.
I feel like I'm writing to no one, like speaking into air (Which I basically am since no one will be reading this).
This is for you Sisa, and for any other family members who are curious, but mostly it's for Bri. You talked me into this.
I am officially a grown woman, moved out and in college. Technically mom and dad pay for everything I do, but that minor detail doesn't fit into my definition of independence and womanhood. Although, I'm pretty sure it fits in theirs.
I am a freshman at Utah State University. Go Aggies?
My sister informed me before I moved out that this experience would be a rough and lonely one for at least a week, but I will have been here for a week tomorrow, and it's been a breeze! Sorry for those of you who suffer or suffered the first week freshman blues, but I am so much happier than you!
Classes are great, the roomies are sweethearts (that is my stance for now, and I reserve the right to go back on this statement at anytime), and the new friends are so much fun!
I am pretty sure I don't have what it takes to write a blog, at least not one worth reading, but I'm doing it anyway; for Bri, my lovely sister who I love 98% of the time. I'm a grown up now, I don't miss you.
(joke.)
Read my stupid blog or no one else will.
My roommate (Alysha) will be home soon, and I have to be done with this before then.
I am pretty sure I'm ashamed? Is that normal for a beginning blogger?
