mushy meant-to-be details

I'm blogging twice in one day, cause I'm in a Zane mood, okay?!
It's fine.

When Zane saw me for the first time, in person, it was at graduation 2011.
I was there for CC, and he was there for his little sister Catie.
I never saw him, but since he was already Facebook creepin' on me, he was able to spot me.

And then, lo and behold, he, and the rest of my future family, shows up in the background of all my pictures.

And the 2nd conversation we ever had went something like this...

    • So you might think I'm a big creep BUT I'm pretty sure I saw you yesterday...

    • haha really?! Im guessing at graduation?

    • yup haha
    • and I thought hey I know her...kinda...haha

    • I saw Nate, but I didn't see you. Im sorry for not creepin back

    • I dont know if you need to apologize for that :)

    • Im surprised you recognized me ina crowd

    • yeah me too...
    • I dont know even know if it was you..honestly but I think it was
    • I promise I'm a stand up young man...not a creep...I'm just observant ??..

    • well was I cute?

    • haha the girl that I saw was beautiful ;)

    • haha ah well than, lets hope it was me

    • but you cant exactly take credit for it because I'm still not 100 % it was you ;) haha

    • haha ah I was hoping you would let me get away with that

    • if you think back to when you saw nate...if you can remember an extremely handsome man hanging out with him..
    • that was probably our other brother..
    • and then if you can think back to who was next to our brother there was a radiant glowing almost hard to look at young man...
    • that was me ;)

    • is that one you?
    • why are you glowing? haha

    • because i'm pure and not a creep..
    • creeps cant glow

    • hahaha I dont think you are creepin

    • ok
    • good!
    • haha ya know I realize that I'm only a percent of the funny that I am on chat compared to reality
    • just fyi

    • youre funnier in person?

    • almost too funny...

    • thats hard to imagine, cause you had me literally laughing out loud a second ago
    • so you're doin okay

    • well that is fantastic then

    • if I ever see you in person, there is a lot of pressure on you now

    • i'm not scared.....
    • i'm pretty brave

    • oh yeah. youre just pointing out all your great qualities arent ya

    • if there is one thing i'm good at...its bravery
    • hahaha
    • I cant act like this its hard to be a db
    • haha

    • hahaha

    • I dont even know you and I'm already showing how weird I am haha
    • I cant believe myself sometimes

    • haha might as well get it out in the open

    • i suppose

    • I would figure it out eventually right

    • haha well maybe
    • I'll tell you what...

    • I'm going to show you how brave I am...

    • here is my number 801.555.5555... ( I inserted fake number for Zanes protection)
    • I'm giving this to a stranger
    • (you)
    • and I could be prank called

    • thats the act of bravery?

    • YAH
    • are you kidding
    • i'm shaking right now

    • wouldn't it be braver of me to actually use that number

    • mmm...maybe

It's hard to say who is the bigger nerd...
Regardless, in the end, I gave him my number, and he called me two days later to ask me on our first date.
I was seconds away from ignoring his call, because that's what I always do, when suddenly my finger was pressing the answer button.
He asked me how I felt about ice cream, I lied and said I loved it, and we made plans for Tuesday evening.

And that my friends is where the obsession started for him.
I, to no surprise, didn't catch on till our second date.
Always one step behind Zane, story of my life :)

chuuuch

Do we look a little chubby, pale, and just mostly unattractive? Yes.
But we went to church together for the first time, so we took a picture while Bri finished getting ready.

Bri says we are obnoxiously in love, and most days I have to agree.

Last Night

Something about the O'Gwin men I have quickly learned is they LOVE their wives, and wives to be, to the point where they become a little possessive.
Family, TV, Computer, and Dogs can all become Zane's latest enemy if they interfere with my attention, especially if he feels like he hasn't seen me enough that day.

So when Zane is at work from 8am-5pm (or longer) and at school from 6:30pm-8:30pm, and my bed time is 10:30pm, leaving us with about 2 hours a day to see each other, Zane is feeling a little grumpy.
And lets be honest, so am I.

Yesterday was a particularly wearing day on Z.
So I planned a little somethin that wouldn't involve any distractions, and hopefully help him relax.

It takes a bit of effort to make my basement look inviting, but I did what I could.
I bought us some drinks and a few treats, ordered some pizza (Zane's favorite), and popped in a movie.

Sometimes when life is feeling overwhelming, you have to take a different approach to the small things in life you do have control over. Like our 2 little hours. Putting some thought and a little TLC into it made last night a itsy-bitsy, mini, baby vacation.

You've got to work with what you've been given.

Blonde Haired Engagements (kind of)

So I'm not sure if anyone told you, but weddings are expensive.
You have a running total you'd like to spend on the whole shebang and you think, "Awesome. I can totally do this."
And then you start making a budget for your expenses, all of which are of course necessities to create your "dream wedding", and then you realize, you're going to have to get a little more realistic...

This is where having your sister take your engagements comes in.
Photographers are ridiculously expensive. So if you only hire a professional one for your groomals, and wedding, you get to save a little money.

I highly suggest asking a family member, if she/he has a good camera and can see because...
A. It's free
B. You get all the copies of all your pictures
C. You get unlimited amount of time to take your pictures. No limit on locations, hours, or outfit changes.
D. You feel super comfortable, so you have a lot of fun the whole time.

And since I've had some requests to get a better picture of the blonde hair, I've decided to share some of the pictures. None of the ones we are actually considering for the announcement, but some of the ones we like just for us.
Maybe another time I will post the contenders for the announcement so I can get some opinions, but as for now, you can enjoy my non-annoucement favorites.
Keep in mind they are still unedited, which is why you get glimpses of my lovely zit.

He was getting a little tired of the picture taking, so he kept saying "Cheese!" and would smile really cheesy, as seen above.

It was such a fun day.
So I can admit that the lighting isn't always perfect, and some outfits washed us out more than others, but having Bri take these for us may be the best decision I've made yet. Besides the choosing of companion, of course.
I am SO SO grateful that I have such a supportive and helpful family during this stressful, but amazing time.

Bri,
Thank you so dang much for taking time out of your schedule to take all these for us! We had so much fun, and we think you did a great job.
You're the best sister a girl could ask for!
I love you.

Not planning my wedding.

I truly hate planning my wedding.
It is not fun.
Planning this wedding makes me feel like I am crazy. Like need to be institutionalized crazy.
My poor fiance is probably wondering what he got himself into...
And my mom probably debates whether or not she is willing to pay for her crazy mean daughter to get married after all.
Did I mention it also makes me mean?
It does.

BUT lucky for me, I have an amazingly talented and cute aunt Rachel who basically has agreed to help me do everything! And by help me, I mean I nod my head yes or no as she makes everything fall into place.
Going over to her house to talk with her was the biggest stress relief you can imagine.
She has basically saved lives.

And while I was over there, my sister and I got to play with some of the cutest cousins in the whole world. Cuter than yours. So I took some pictures.

Same Same!

I hope my babies turn out as cute as miss Megan.

Where it Started

Since this is soon going to be the blog of Brooke AND Zane, I think everyone should get a little more background knowledge.

Lets start at the very beginning...

Well Zane's family wants him to date a nice girl.
I mean, he is 24 and not married, practically a menace to society, right?!
So Nate, his younger brother, and my good friend in high school, with a stroke of genius/divine intervention, suggests he dates ME!
Shows him some pictures on FB of me, Zane thinks I'm kinda cute, so Nate tells Zane to add me as a friend.
But Zane thinks that adding me as a friend out of no where, is super weird, so Zane tells Nate to tell me to add him.
Ya following me?
So Nate sends me a "friend suggestion" on Facebook, to add Zane.
But I also think it's super weird to just add a guy on FB, especially when he is older and I think he is kinda attractive.
BUT, this is where fate steps in, somehow I don't read the friend suggestion clearly, I think Zane added me and I am simply accepting. So I click "add", truly thinking I am clicking "accept"
Soon there after I realize my mistake and feel pretty stupid. But it's not long before Zane sends me a little message.
And it went as follows...
except I am pretty sure the smiley emotocons are inaccurate... ignore them.

    • I dont think I know you... But I see you are friends with my brother and I love him so... I thought I would say hi:)

    • haha yeah I dont think you do, but me and Nate were buds back in the day, so HI :)

    • Oh well that's legit! :) I see that you just had a birthday...as I'm now creepin haha...so happy late bday:)

    • hahaha always happy to have another stalker :) thank you

    • Hey you added me as the friend so...you only did this to yourself ;) haha

    • haha I guess thats true. so bring it on

    • Oh well now it's not fun anymore ;)

    • haha oh shoot. how come?

    • you just took all the secretiveness out of the stalking haha...

    • haha Im sorry, I was trying to make you feel less creepy than you obviously are:)

    • oh dang!... well thankyou? Hahaha you're so considerate of "creeps"

    • haha I do what I can
    • but it looks like I just ruined it for you

    • Yeah... I think you've made me change my ways... Maybe:)

    • well now that we are basically best friends, it takes the creepiness down quite a few notches.

    • Ok good! :)
    • Well, Brooke, my new friend it was very nice to meet you!

Oh we must have thought we were pretty flirty and clever...

And that my friends, is where it started.
And here we are 3 months later, betrothed :)
Thanks to Nate, and good ol' FB.

I'm telling you, the more Zane and I look over the last 3 months, the more we honestly think our forever was meant to be.
Maybe as I share some mushy relationship details you'll agree with me.

Making up titles is getting so old

In the past 3 days, I consumed 2 cheese burgers, and 15 chicken nuggets.
Plus, you saw the Reese's Pieces and the Mountain Dew in my last post...

Needless to say, it's got to stop.

Thus, the search for my "hot wedding bod" has begun.

And it started with this...

And I would be lying if I said I didn't truly want to walk out of that grocery store with those pillsbury dough boy holiday cookies. Ya know, the ones that come out every holiday?
These ones had pumpkins on them. And they were calling me.

In the end, I made it out without any baked goods, highly caffeinated drinks, or deep fried animal products.

#1 & #2

Reason #1 for agreeing to marry Zane...

His mind is always in service mode. "What can he do to serve me?" Sometimes that exact sentence will leave his mouth, often followed by a foot rub.
And sometimes he serves without being asked.
Like when I spend all night at a Taylor Swift concert, meaning I got not even close to enough sleep, and have to get up for work the next morning at 6. I get to my car and find this...

Which brings me to reason #2...

He knows me too well! Of course he knows the only way for me to stay awake at work after a rough night is Mountain Dew for breakfast.
mmm healthy.
Plus some flowers and my favorite candy never hurt.

I'm feeling a little inadequate to be his fiance lately. Gotta step it up.

Conference Weekend

Conference weekend is wonderful.
We get to be lazy all day, and listen to the words of the prophets.
And thank goodness the talks come out in the Ensign as well, because I am sleeping a little more than I should...
woops.

And I even made us some German Pancakes for breakfast this morning! Best future wifey ever!

Ignore how absolutely disgusting I look.

The Story..

Once upon a time,
"a worthy, honorable, priesthood holder crossed my path and caught my eye".
And so we dated for a couple months, and then we fell in love.
Once in love, it was inevitable that the M word would come up. So I waited patiently for it...
And then it came. And then pretty suddenly, we weren't only talking about it, we were flat out planning it.
I even had the chance to go look at pretty rings, and I fell in love with one little gem in particular.
The problem was, it was going to be a couple of weeks before the ring would be ready to be on my finger.
So I was 100% positive that I wouldn't be able to officially announce anything for awhile. And I had come to terms with that.

So when the boyfriend takes me to see the temple and go to dinner on a Friday night, I don't have any suspicions.
First, because Zane is like that. He would, has, and will continue to take me on random romantic dates all the time. So it doesn't seem too out of the ordinary.
Second, I was positive that the ring wasn't ready.

So there we are, walking around the temple we know we will be sealed in, in less than 3 months. (pretty ring or not, the plans had already been made)
So you can picture being there with me, I'll let you know it looked something like this...

And so we walk down to a flower bed, to get a better view of the temple, for my picture taking self. And we stand there lookin', and he gives me a hug and says...
"Isn't it crazy we're where we will be getting married in 3 months?"
And I say, "Yeah"
And then he pulls away a little and says "And isn't it crazy we're standing in the exact place I proposed to you??"
And I hit him in the chest, about to say something about it not being funny to joke about that, but I don't get anything out before he is on his knee pulling out a little black box.
And he says something like "Brooke will you be my wife?"
And I think I said "Yes."
But honestly, your mind is thinking so many things, the details get a little hazy.
But the point is he asked, and I agreed.

And we stand there hugging, shaking a little, and giggling a bit, staring at my finger, and we take some more pictures.

Exactly where I was standing :)

pretty ring, in a pretty box

Absolutely adore it.

Then we go off to dinner at Chillis, my favorite!
And continue to text everyone we know, and announce it on FB.
(I am back on FB, byyyy the way.)

And then we go tell all our families.
And take a few more pictures...
Looking back, would I have liked to maybe do my hair, and worn something that looked a little better with Zane's outfit? Probably.

and thats the story!
Now that it's out, I will have so much fun being able to share more on this little blog about our little life.

Like how I despise planning a wedding...

Also, need a new title to incorporate Zane.
The winning idea will win 1 million dollars.
